Cooking from Scratch (giveaway)

As you all know we are trying to live fast food free and it is doing wonders for our energy level as well as our waistlines and our bank accounts! For years I've had a cookbook sitting on my counter looking all pretty and decorative because, really, who needs cookbooks these days anyways? I mean all the convenient food options we have why do we need to cook from scratch? Before we started this journey I had cooked very few things from scratch and when I did I measured everything so carefully. My mom and my mother in law have both taught me a thing or two about cooking...I learned how to make tortillas from scratch from my MIL and my mom always has fresh bread baking and makes some of the best spaghetti sauce from scratch. I figured if they could cook from scratch so could I. Except it isn't as easy  as they make it look. You have to have a basic recipe to follow and thanks to them and my cookbook sitting there all pretty like I have been able to venture out on my own and make tons of yummy things...from scratch...on my own...and they taste delicious!!!!!

I know you're asking "What cookbook do you use?" Since you asked so nicely I will tell show you!
Yep! That's it!!! Although mine is all covered with flour and is actually been used!!! I love that it has recipes with make ahead directions as well as recipes marked "fast" for those nights when I need to fix dinner in a hurry! It also has a chapter on cooking basics that includes advice on food safety, menu planning, and table setting. The Chapters are already divided out and tabbed making it easy to look up just what I need. And a whole chapter filled with crock pot recipes!!!! It even includes nutrition information for each recipe! The only thing about this was a lot of the recipes called for wooden utensils needed for cooking....well humph now what? It's a good thing I had a set of bamboo ones just sitting all unused and pretty in my drawer!! I am now more confident about cooking from scratch and I love making things for my family-almost as much as they love to eat it!!

So time for the giveaway!!! One lucky winner will win the newest edition Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook (15th edition) as well as a set of 6 Lipper International Bamboo kitchen utensils!!!

To enter to win, use the Rafflecopter form below.  You can do as little or as many as you like on the form...but each one you do is an entry!

I love baking, if it can go in my oven, I'm in heaven. Also, my crockpot might be my best friend lol.

My family and I have been trying to eat better too. We almost never eat fast food. I don't even like it anymore since I've gotten off of it.

Thanks for joining my blog. I joined yours back and am looking forward to some great recipes!

Thanks

Just made authentic Jersey-Style Italian hot dogs for dinner but didn't fry anything, roasted the vegetables and used chicken dogs. YUM! Love your blog...I'll be following

I love to bake at home, but dh is the one who cooks. I make pies, cakes, cookies and the like. My waistline is certainly suffering, though. I really need to stop eating as if I am pregnant.
